Jack Shack, Hi, yes I had tried from the control panel, but I could not still access the disk management, after starting everything and getting an rpc server is not available error msg, I finally found the fix above. I was able to access disk manager from the control panel after this. But thank you anyway! Liz.

Is there a reason you didn't use the control panel?  Folks who do this frequently know the snap-in command to use in the Run box, but I just open the control panel, Performance and Maintenance, Admin Tools, Computer Management, Storage, and finally, Disk Management.  Don't ask me why I remember this better than a simple command!

Excellent post!  Thanks for letting us know; looking back at your original post I had gotten the impression somehow that you hadn't made it all the way through the control panel sequence.

Best of luck to you!
