Cannot boot into XP, best option
Hi,
I have a two year old Inspiron 600m. It has not been able to load XP since Sunday saying no bootable devices found. SInce then I've managed to boot into and backup my data using UBCD4Win live CD. I now plan to fix the boot problem. BAsed on responses I have recived, these seem to be my best options
1) Use recovery console and do a chkdsk /R
2) Use recovery console and do fixmbr or fixboot (I have multiple partitions, is it true that these commands will screw things up if I have multiple partitions?)
3) Use Windows repair install.
In which order should I try these for the best chance of recovering XP to a state just before the crash? I look forward to hearing from all you experts out there.
Thanks,
Arvind

Thanks for your message. Which utility in Hiren's boot CD did you use?
Thanks,
Arvind
