Try this, go to Start and then "connect to" then select "set up a connection or network"  and follow the prompts to set up a New connection., I think it is set up for a pppoe connection, you don't want this. I have not used this on Vista before so I cannot say what the prompts will be after New connection, and have found little documentation on this yet.

 

You may have to delete the old network pppoe connection after creating the new one that works.
