Cannot create recovery drive using pen drive or DVD
sir yesterday i tried to create recovery media of win. 8 by using discs . i followed all the steps correctly but while the processing of writing discs the disc tray ejected automatically and a msg appeared on screen which read "please reinsert the just written disc and close the tray. i did the same and after some time a msg again appeared "a error occured" .
I m using Moser baer 16X dvd.
I also used Sony original DVDs but of no use.
After this i also tried my 16 GB pendrive but the software showed me that no USB key was found.
sir plz help me to fix this....

Hi Vardan Gupta,
The Dell Backup and Recovery application seems to be corrupted. I would advise you to reinstall the Dell Backup and Recovery application on the system again using the link below and check if you are able to create the recovery DVDs.

Please let me know if this helps.

Sir I have downloaded th update but its still not working.
I hav bought my laptop from USA, is there any provision of providing recovery disc from the Dell India itself.
As I am unable to do so.
Or is there any other way as all of the well known ways have been tried by me.

I am having the same problem on my Dell XPS 12 - I had to purchase 3 different USB drives just to find one that this laptop would recognize in the Dell Backup and Recovery tool (since apparently it cannot utilize Sandisk.....) and even now it simply starts to create it and ends up with a message that only reads 'an error occurred'. I have redownloaded the tool and that has not helped. What can I do?

I solved my problem.
I tried 6 different branded DVDs alnd 4 pen drives.
At last I ordered my recovery drive from Dell.
I formatted my OS drive and reinstalled my windows 8 again. So i would suggest you to get your recovery drive from Dell.
