Teknon01,

Goes to prove the validity of the old saying, it's always darkest before it's pitch black. None of the problems they listed apply except perhaps the last one.

The only thing I might suggest (assuming you are no longer getting bounced for using a pirated copy of XP) is to check the Windows Update.log file (at C:\Windows) and see if anything there corresponds with one of the error codes in the Update troubleshooter.

OK Well first I want to thank everyone who replied with the speed at  which they applied.  Secondly when I folowed the links provided I got an acknowledement that MY version of MS Windows was Genuine.   Then I followed everyone's advise and here is the results

Failed Updates
For help installing an update successfully, see the solution under each problem description.

Problem: End User License Agreement (EULA) Not Accepted (BINGO what does this mean?????????????)
Solution: Check for updates again and wait while you install updates. You will be asked to accept the EULA before any updates with a EULA can be installed.

Problem: Not Enough Disk Space (I have 130GB HD only 6% Used)
Solution: To make more space available, run the Disk Cleanup tool or uninstall any programs that you don’t use. For directions, see Help and Support on your computer.

Problem: Automatic Updates is currently installing updates (Not a chance)
Solution: Please wait until Automatic Updates is complete and then check your update history. At that time, if the update has failed to install, you can try installing it from the website.
Note: To view Automatic Updates progress, click the updating icon in your System Tray.

Problem: Please check your update history for a description.

Problem: A problem on your computer is preventing updates from being downloaded or installed
Solution: To fix the problem, try installing the updates again. If that doesn't work, use the Troubleshooter to try solve the problem.

If you turn on Automatic Updates you will get security updates even if they think it is a pirated copy.

If Denny's suggestions don't work, try running a system file check before attempting to update again.

click start>run
type in: sfc /scannow
(space between sfc and /)
click ok

Insert XP CD if sfc requests it. sfc will replace any missing/damaged XP system files. Reboot when it's done and try the updates again.

Teknon01,

I see nothing in the messages that you posted which indicates that the downloaded updates were not installed.
