Cannot install Windows XP
Hi, today I tried (many times) to format my hard drive using a Windows XP DVD.
The problem is that when it starts installing, it gets stuck at 0%, and there is strange noise coming out of the hard drive.
I've tried to install Vista and Windows 7 on the same machine, with similar results. The installation gets stuck and noise comes out of the hard drive.
I've had Windows Vista installed before, and I never heard the noise before, but I did get Blue Screens of Death from time to time.
If you can help, please post. Thanks.

Press F12 at boootup and run the Dell Diagnostics. Sounds very much like a failed hard drive.
