Cannot repair or upgrade Dell installed software without an automatic rollback
When I try to update or remove any of the pre-installed Dell software the action is always reversed. If I remove something, it automatically restores itself, if I try to update the software it rolls back to the original version. Is there something Dell (or XP) does to prevent users from modifying their standard installation? The only way I could upgrade to Office 2003 was to run the setup.exe with a /NOROLLBACK option. Without this option, the software would be upgraded, but as soon as the install finished it would automatically roll back to Office XP
I have looked at my local security policies and can not find anything there that would explain this behavior.
