cannot start up windows

We have a Dell Pentium 3 Demensions computer. Our problem is this:

When windows comes up we get a heading like this:

Explorer:

Program preformed a illegal operation , your program will shut down, if this problem presists contact program vender.

Then it says Click on Details:

Explorer caused an invalid page fault in module rese.dll at 0187:61C0539.

We cannot get on line. We cannot open any programs.

Thank you,

Are you sure about the spelling of "rese.dll"? I was unable to find any mention of that name searching Google. That's very unusual!

Also, what Operating System are you running? Can it start in "Safe Mode"?

Will the machine bring up the startup menu if you tap the F8 key while it's booting?

I'm very puzzled that the name RESE.DLL is nowhere to be found via Google!

The way the machine's acting suggests it's infected with a virus or some form of malware.

You're on the right track. Many of these trojans will sport names not found on Google.

You may want to pop over to the Virus removal forum.
