cannot start windows XP

Question

I turned my computer on, it works until I see the screen of Windows XP loading and then nothing. Black screen.  It looks like that the computer puts itself on stand-by.   It has worked well until now.   Help ! WHat should I do ?   Thank you in advance.

It would help if you provide more info, like computer make/model, any error messages or diagnostic LED indication?

Problem can be caused by a number of issues:

If it’s hardware first disconnect all peripheral devices except mouse, keyboard & monitor then try to boot to windows, if not resolved you need to run Dell Diagnostics

If it’s a software problem, first try booting to Safe Mode if no problems in Safe Mode it could mean a corrupt video driver or something else loading in Normal Mode – if correct then try Last known Good Configuration

try draining flea power first by removing battery and disconnecting ac power then while battery is out press and hold power button for 10 secs then put back the battery and attemp to turn on the computer.
