Can't delete empty folders

A folder has appeared in my C drive called a8b77d8c308af690e20 and it has a sub-folder called sp2.

Both are empty and their date of creation is a few days before I received by computer (?the date the computer was made).

They are both empty, but when I try to get rid of them I get a message saying sp2 can't be deleted because access is denied.

In MS-DOS mode, the folders don't appear.

Any ideas what they are doing there or how to get rid of them?

They are system files from windows updates, dont delete them, they are not empty but would contain system and/or hidden files. Just ignor.
