can't install dell quickset!!

i had my windows reinstalled on my dell inspiron 1525 and the guy who did it either forgot or couldn't install the dell quickset driver. and now and i can't seem to be able to install any version. I have the original version still on my laptop but the first time i tried to install it it gave me some kind of error. then i tried to download the latest version from this website, 9.4.14 i think it was, and it made me download the .net framework, and after i downloaded it, it started to download the software, only after the screen pops up it tells me that there are no files to be downloaded. it does that with all the versions of the dell quickset software and i dont know what to do. anyone help?

Sounds like the person who installed Windows did not install everything you needed.

Download and install the following drivers from the Dell Drivers and Download Page in the order listed below. Do not use the Dell Download Manager. I have never had Dell Quickset tell me download something else.

• 1. Dell System (Notebook/Desktop) Software - Under System Utilities

• 2. Chipset Drivers (Intel then Ricoh) - Under Chipset

• 3. Video Driver (Intel) - Under Video

• 4. Conexant Drivers - Under Communications

• 5. Network Ethernet Driver (Usually mentions Ethernet/Broadcom) - Under Network

• 6. Wireless Card - Under Network

• 7. Touchpad - Under Mouse & Keyboard

• 8. Audio (any drivers before applications) - Under Audio

• 9. Intel Matrix Storage Manager & Intel Turbo - Under SATA Drives

• 10. TV Tuners/Other Video (If applicable) - Under Video

• 11. Bluetooth (If applicable) - Under Network

• 12. Dell Quickset - Under Applications

◘ Note the other drivers such as the BIOs, CD/DVD firmware can be updated if you wish but I would recommend leaving these alone. Sometimes if these updates go wrong, things seriously break. If you have no problems with any of these devices then leave them be. You may look through Applications to see if you find anything else useful. I however recommend downloading.

Other Dell software can be downloaded and installed.

• 13. Dell Support Centre (from here, not from applications)

• 14. Dell Webcam Software   (if you have an integrated webcam).

• 15. My Dell Downloads (requires 32 bit IE, gives you a download link to some of the preinstalled software on your system).

I made a guide for doing a clean install of Windows 7 below. If you want to ensure everything is done properly then I recommend you follow it.

If you have Windows Vista instead of Windows 7 you will need to use you're Windows Vista DVD at step 3 and at step 4. use Windows Vista Service Pack 1 and Windows Vista Service Pack 2. Otherwise everything else is more or less the same.

i'm not very good with computers,so sorry if this sounds silly or ignorant, but can't i just install the application for quickset? why do i have to install the BIOS and all the rest? plus, i already have most of the drivers already installed. i'm just scared that the install might not work and i might end up messing up my laptop instead, so that's why im concerned about installing all of those drivers, since they're already in my comp.
