Can't install OS
Ron and Tom, My replies aren't going thru so I'll start a new thread.
I spent several more hours trying to get pc restore to work with no luck. If it was there I would have hit it even accidently with all the time I tried.
Tom mentions that pc restore wasn't installed until July 2004 and there would be 3 partitions on the drive. This could be part of the problem, since I can only fine 2 partitions. The unit was ordered and shipped sometime in 2005.
I did fill out the form to order the new discs and got confirmation on delivery next week.
Thanks for the help and suggestions.
Lynn

It was moi who said you should have 3 partitions if PC Restore was on the hard drive.
1. Diagnostics partition ~ 39 MB
2. C: (size depends on total size of hard drive)
3. PC Restore partition ~ 3.5 GB
If the drive was ever reformatted or replaced, the PC Restore partition may have been deleted.
Keep in mind that the Windows CD only installs Windows, without drivers or software, So be sure to install things in the correct order.
Windows followed in order by:
Desktop System Software (if required for this model)
Chipset driver
Video driver
Audio driver
Network driver
etc.
Obviously, you'll need to know exactly what video card, audio card etc you have so you can install the correct drivers.
