can't log on

My new 8400 locked up and I had to reboot, when I did it asked me for a password . (Don't have one) I cannot get back into windows. This happened on my last dell computer I bought for work and I had to reinstall everything. I do not want to do this as I was almost done setting this one up. Error (0xc00000bb) Any thoughts?

gtmick00,

If you are using XP Home Edition, boot to Safe Mode. If you are using XP Professional Edition the procedure can be done in Normal Mode.

At the Welcome screen press Ctrl-Alt-Delete twice. On the login screen enter Administrator as the user name and leave the password block blank. (It should be blank by default.) If you are able to log on using this account you can go to Start|Control Panel|User Accounts and change or remove the password that is now set for your named administrator account.

gtmick00,

I have no experience with XP Media Center. Were you able to log on as the system administrator?

Denny,

Thanks for the help but it still asks for the password. I am running XP media. This is the problem that I never wanted to repeat, but I think IM stuck.

Thanks

Like the previous guy said if you can get into safe mode you should be ok

when you see the dell logo at start up press the f8 key 2-3 times at the advanced start up menu choose safe mode when it asks you to choose a account to log in as choose "administrator" no password is needed

once in go to control panel user accounts and recreate account.
reboot try that new account
