What you describe is an image placeholder. It should not be associatd with a .pdf file.

Well, OK. Then why am I getting that instead of the open file? Any ideas?

Is the .pdf file on the Web site or have you downloaded it to your hard drive?

I don't know. It is on a company website. I click to download it, and I get this image. How to I tell if its downloaded or not?

 

On the company website, its says to get the codes in pdf format, click here. When I click here, it simply shows me a blank page with the little sysmbol in it.

If the Web site is available to the general public it may be helpful if you post the URL and describe what you are trying to access on the page so someone can see what you are seeing (and possible figure out how to work around it).

I am afraid it is not available to the general public, as it is a company website that is password protected. I noticed that one place has a chioce of a word format or and adobe format. when I clicked on the word format, it came up fine. I think it must be something to do with adobe, and maybe a firewall or antivius thing. what do you think?

 

Excuse me, it says in Adobe format, not pdf.
