Can't shut down, program not responding

Question

When shutting down, (most all the time) a box pops up and says 'program not responding'. I then have to hit the end task button and wait until it shuts down. It never used to do this until lately. How can I fix this?

Hi,

Close all open windows so that no application is running. Right click a blank space on the Taskbar and select Task Manager. Click the "Applications" Tab at the top. Look and see if anything shows up here as still running that shouldn`t be.

Internet explorer is running and won't respond ,when i hit the close program keys then i hit close internet explorer then i can shut down, i could not find task manager, only task bar options,i have windows 98 2nd edition if that means anything i'm also from florida, St.pete next store from you by Largo

hit ctrl-alt-delete at the same time to make the task manager appear. then click on the applications and click 'end task' to stop them from running. check for spywares, viruses, and all that is suspicious that is causing your computer problems.
