ccAP message at shutdown.

Just got a new 1505. Installed Norton Internet Security and I have been getting a ccAP message with an "End Now" button at shutdown.

While I am here, I also experienced this evening my screen started to "scroll" like an old tv set. I rebooted it and haven't had it happen again. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

ccApp is part of Norton Internet security. Basically what that error messages means is NIS was running when your computer shut down and Windows had to close it in order to shut down. Make sure you are completely up to date in Liveupdate. Also, try exiting out of NIS before you shut down.

I have an (older) Inspiron 2600 and kept up with updates on Norton IS.  I always have a problem with the CCAPP process not ending before shutting down got to it.  So, I don't shut down every night to avoid that.

From another forum with the explanation from Symantec:

Message: "ccApp.exe is not responding" during computer restart or shut down

Situation:
When you restart or shut down your computer, you see the Windows dialog box displaying the message "ccApp.exe is not responding. . . ." Sometimes, Windows closes the program and you can restart or shut down. At other times you must click End Now to close ccApp.exe.

Solution:
This message does not indicate a problem. The main Norton AntiVirus (NAV) host file, ccApp.exe, is in the process of closing all running services. The ccApp.exe file can take some time to close, especially if the computer was shut down before it finished its last startup process.

Be patient. If Windows does not close the application in a few seconds, then click End Now to close the program and allow the restart/shut down process to continue.

Thanks for the information on ccAP, I appreciate it. Do you have any thoughts on screen?

If it does it again your video card or monitor may be going out. The moment it does it, call dell and make them replace it.
