CD recording drive is missing. I cannot open the CD (button) on the Tower
System
- Microsoft Windows XP
- Home Edition
- Version 2002
- Service Pack 2
- Dell Dimension 2400 series
- Phoenix ROM BIOS Plus Version 1.10 A05
I think my CD recording drive is missing. I cannot open the CD (button) on the Tower. When I look in My computer, I don’t see a CD icon. A few months ago, I posted here I had this problem. I had received this message when I logged on:
"Secondary drive 0 not found. Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run setup utility."
So this is what I did:
Also try clearing the NVRAM (CMOS). It is not uncommon for the hardware information stored in the NVRAM (CMOS) to not be updated correctly after a hardware change and this can lead to the F1 - F2 boot scenario. To clear the NVRAM (CMOS) on your model just follow these steps....
Reboot system and enter the BIOS Setup by pressing F2.
Turn on Caps Lock, Scroll Lock and Num Lock.
Press ALT+ E then ALT+ F then ALT+ B
I performed the above procedure and this cleared up my problem with logging on. I no longer got the above message. It wasnt until today that I wanted to insert a CD and I could not open the button on the CD Tower.
Appreciate any thoughts/suggestions!
Happy Holidays!
