CD writer driver problem - it was ok with xp

My laptop is Dell latitude d410. The CD RW/DVD is external and its make is Philips CDRW/DVD SCB5265.
First. my windows vista refused to identify my CD-RW/DVD ROM. Then I posted the message on this forum and had to delete some low-key/high key parameter. Then the CD - ROM started functioning.

You can refer to that post @:

Now, after a month I want to burn a CD. But the problem is that the computer now recognizes it as a CD-ROM and not as CD RW/DVD ROM. The DEVICE MANAGER shows something like that:

VH1918R ZJD739K SCSI CD-ROM

which means that there is some problem with the driver.

Any solutions please????

Right click on the drive in device manager, select uninstall, reboot, see if windows recognizes it and reinstalls the device, Reboot again, see if it is a burner.

If this fails to give results,

Check this registry setting

To resolve this issue, edit the Microsoft Windows registry to identify the Burning drive as a recordable drive. To do this, follow these steps.WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
3. Expand the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CD Burning\Drives
4. On the File menu, click Export.
5. In the File name box, type backup of drives key, and then click and Save to a folder of choice.

Note You can restore this registry subkey by double-clicking the backup of drives key.reg file that you saved.
6. In the left pane of the Registry Editor window, click the Volume{GUID} folder under Drives, where GUID is a 32-character hexadecimal globally unique identifier.
Note If you have more than one CD\DVD-ROM drive in the computer, an additional Volume{GUID} folder is listed for each drive.
7. In the right pane of the Registry Editor window, double-click "IsImapiDataBurnSupported"
8. In the Value data box, type 1 , then click OK. Reboot,  If it is already 1, make no changes, it is something else.
