Change default windows explorer window size - how to?
When windows explorer opens up for my CD Drive it is always in a window too small for me.
I have tried resizing then holding Shift and also Shift/Ctrl while clicking on the close button but this does not work.
I have searched MS Knowledge base and can find nothing.
I do not want it maximised (which I can do with a short cut) - just bigger than the default size.
I have tried the program "Autosizer" which WILL work for other things but will NOT work for the CD dirve window.
It has been suggested to me that I shoul delete these registry entries:-
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\BagMRU
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\Bags
as they will be rebuilt and then try again.
I did that and then retried sizing the window and closing it while holding down the shift key - NO GOOD!! I could see new entries being written to the above registry locations as new windows were opened and closed but NO new entry was added for the CD drive window :-(
Is there any other registry setting that controls default window size in window explorer? Or any other way of changing the size of the window when it opens?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam
Bag MRU Size DWORD .........(400) (400 is default)

Use "Explorer" > Customizations
I agree there must be a setting to control default size of Explorer Windows but sorry don't know it.

Very easy to do. Open the window. While holding down the CTRL key, resize the window to your liking. Release the CTRL key and close the window by File>Close. DO NOT USE THE "X" IN THE UPPER RIGHT CORNER OF THE WINDOW TO CLOSE IT.
This procedure works.

But still doesn't remember CD Folder as it is temporary.

As I had deleted the two registry entries "bagsmru" and bags" I guess it could not be because the 400 limit had been reached!! And the CD drive window is just NOT creating an entry in these registry settings (as I mentioned in my first post).
As you say, there must be some default registry setting for the default window but finding it ....... :-(
