Computer as DVR

I have a PCchips video card that came with Intervideo windvr 2.0 and wondered how can i turn my computer into a automatic dvr? I'm running windows 98Se on Demision p3 500 but i'm not sure how to set windows to wake up for time recording then go back to sleep, can it be done? This version of windvr doesn't have the EPG (Electronic Program Guide) function enabled and can't.
