Computer running extremely slow after Outlook/Microsoft office update??

Hello,

I'm not 100% that is the reason my computer is malfunctioning but it's running at a snails pace.  I recently replaced the mother board on my Inspiron 9200, exactly 15 days out of warranty, and it seemed to run fine when I received it back from Pell Technology.  I thought I needed to upgrade my software which may have been a huge mistake.  Here are my specs on my computer.
Dell Inspiron 9200, Intel Pentiun 2.1 GHz, 983 MHz, 512 mb of RAM

It should be lightning quick but it's not.  When I switch from web page to web page it takes about 5-10 seconds to respond.  Also, when I'm in my favorites toolbar it takes forever to respond.  I'm very disappointed with Dell but all I can do is vent.  I know they will do nothing.  This will be my last Dell Computer.

Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

PS  It's not my Internet Connection, so I've been told.

Regards,

There were some problems with the recent Office and Windows updates reported by some users. Go back to the MS Update site and get your computer scanned again for the corrected updates or just uninstall the latest updates in Add/remove programs. Then check to see that you are running at full 2.1 G speed. That 983 mghz setting is odd and sounds like Speed Step halving the speed to save on battery. Press the Windows key with the Pause/break key to get to System Properties. If you're running at half speed, change the Power Options settings to Always On. Also check the Hardware Device mgr for any trouble with the hardware. Lastly ask the company who fixed the computer for help.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.  I'll perform these tasks and let youknow how it turned out.
