computer so messed up. Please help!

I have  dell inspiron 6000 and when i log  onto the computer on the desktop screen i get a message, in the lower right hand corner, which says,   Windows-system Error  A duplicate name exists on the network.  What does this mean?   I have also gotten the "blue screen of death" many times.  One of them said fatal system error.  Just last night i had the blue screen and it said there was a problem w/ my computer, and it automaticly dumped a small amt of memory.  I cant update my mcafee and my frame rate skips.  My itunes is messed up and the music skips.  What do i do to fix this problem?  I talked to a dell guy and he said it was a software problem.  Can anyone help me? please

Start by backing up all your good stuff you wanna keep! Then begin to delete all the programs you never use then the ones you do until you have basically a bare bones system. Defrag the run a CHK Dsk. Rebuild from there or.................reformat. Ugh!!!
