Constant disk checks

How do I prevent the constant 5 step disk checks I'm getting when I boot up?  Sometimes  my computer shuts down in the middle of an application and it reboots and runs this check.  Is this anohter by product of SP2?  This happened earlier this year and went away (I'm guessing,  as a result of an earlier update).  Its much more frequent now that I installed SP2.

From aps@ 's good link (if they are correct), where they recommanded removing that key (BootExecute), perhaps if you just modified it to autocheck autochk * , it might fix the problem. This is my regedit list of that reg key and I don't have any problems with check disk at startup with it set this way.

Couldnt access the link - it wouldnt open.  However, It turns out that I had to update my BIOS.
I've rebooted several times since and have not repeated the problem so far.

Thanks
