C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe application not found

Iam getting this error while clicking the "add or remove programs" icon in control panel...

 

Iam using windows Xp sp2...

 

Please help me....

Download this file and unzip it, then copy and paste the file into the C:\Windows\System32   folder

Also check your system for malware

Download, install, update twice, scan

well i couldn't run any .exe file except internet explorer

 

while double clicking a .exe file...it is presenting

 

 choose the program you want to use to open this file

   and giving a list of programs....

thanks for the reply

i did exactly what you said.....while doing copy and paste into the c:\WINDOWS\system32 folder....

the message

    this folder already contains a file named 'rundll32.exe'

would you like to replace the existing file....

......

 

i clicked the yes button.....but the problem remains the same......i cannot open applications...

 

please help......thanks

Go here, and scroll down to "EXE File Association Fix for Windows XP" near the bottom

 

download the reg file marked "here" and follow the instructions to install it, then try to install mbam.

followed the instructions but still couldn't install mbam.....

thank you mombodog .....the problem is solved....in addition to what you have said......

i downloaded exefix_xp.com  from http://windowsxp.mvps.org/exefile.htm

 

and performed the required operations......now able to install mbam...and now iam scanning the whole system......
