Defrag my computer

Have you tried to Defrag in Safe Mode? Start or reboot, at the Dell splash screen tap F8 key. At the boot menu choose Safe Mode.

Hello, I fixed my defrag problem on my computer. Oh and thanks Dave5 for all your help. I didn't do the safe mode. I was just sitting here thinking, why would I still have the Microsoft Antispyware on my computer, it was listed in my defrag report, because I had removed it, by going to the remove/add in the control panel, in July when it expired. So I got to the program files, and saw that there was still 10 files listed under Microsoft Antispyware, so I just deleted all of them, because I wasn't using that spyware program anymore. I then went to my defrag, and it was working again. So I'm not sure just what happened there. I'm saying if someone is having trouble with their defrag program, they might want to check the defrag report, read it carefully, it might give you a hint to what is going on with the program, if it isn't working right, because when I saw the Microsoft Antispyware file listed on my defrag report, I thought that was pretty strange to be there, I hadn't see it there before, see what it says, and go from there. So I hope this help someone else with a xp system defrag problem.
