I am having similar problems, we have a W2K server and keep getting Delayed Write Failed problems. When we get them it slows our server to such an extent that it is unusable. Did you get a resolution to the problem?
Check the server's system error log for more details regarding the failure. One possibility is that the hard drive on the server where the file was to have been stored is failing. Another is described in
this Microsoft Knowledge Base article.

I have the same issue. The article in MS knowledge base applies to Event ID:50. I get the Event ID: 100 Source: Userenv. For me it is isolated to the GX100's. Has not appeared on the GX50 or GX60 systems.
We run W2K, SP4 and updates are current.
Really looking for some help on this. Our only recourse at this time is to re-image the system. It is happening more frequently. Came in one day and it happened on 3 systems.
It might be worth a call to Microsoft Support, even if you have to pay their per-incident fee. I looked for anything related to Event ID 100, source userenv, and didn't find anything that looked relevant.
My experience with Microsoft Support in the past has been *very* positive, although I've not called them in about a year.
(edit) That event ID (userenv/100) is associated with unloading profiles during logoff. If the account is domain based, the write that's failing is on the server. What's logged on the server where the profile's being stored?
I have the same problem on a Optiplex gx260. Right after the first of the year i started receiving the Delayed Write Failed error when saving large Photoshop files across the network to the file server (15 mb and above). I called Microsoft because there is a Service Pack 2 hotfix and still no luck. I have reinstalled WinXP SP1 and all software and I still get the same error. The event viewer gives me the ID 50 event. I have replaced the MB and tested the NIC. I have tested all hardware between pc and server (switch ports) and still no luck. The error is happening on the local machine not on the server as there are no events in the event viewer pertaining to this error. What seems to be weird is that I can accomplish what I need to with a Win2k machine with the large files and have no Delayed Write Failures. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
That was a good link, the thing is, I have installed the hotfix and SMB is turned off at the server and the client. I am going to try it this morning, while i know network traffic is low. If you can think of anything else that would be great.
I do appreciate the help on this, thanks. I noticed an error in my post. It is Event ID: 1000, not 100. Still source Userenv. I am waiting for the next occurrence to check the event logs on the server.
This is only happening in one department. I have 2 departments using the same GX100's, but have not experienced it in the other department. The only difference is the phone system. It did seem to happen after we started using Norton's AV.

event id 1000 userenv, you'll find numerous hits. Perhaps some of them will suggest a solution. As you'll see, there are many possibilities!
You mentioned the phone system. Is it possible that the ports on the network switch that the troubled GX100's are connected to are configured differently?
Well it is not network traffic, my file server is setup for Raid level 5. The strange thing is I have another server that I use for installs and store client images and when I save it on that server I don't get the error message, this server just has two ide drives in it. So maybe it has to do with the scsi???? I have seen Microsoft's troubleshooting to find the event id 50 and I have done all that. I am just at my ends with this. Maybe i will just map a drive to my install server and wait for some kind of fix.
You'd said earlier that you'd checked for network problems between the PC and the server. Did that include locking the port link speed at both ends of each connection, and (if the switch supports this) enabling PortFast spanning tree setup? Here's a
Cisco article on troubleshooting connectivity problems. While you may not have a Cisco switch, the ideas may apply to the switch you have.
