I would like to know something about delete temporary internet files. When I delete them through Tools/Internet Options/Temporary Internet Files/delete files, do I just delete my files, I am on an adminstrator account, or do I delete files across all accounts, I have three user accounts and one guest account? When I do a Virus/Spyware scan I can see the progress bar in operation. When it comes to my user/guest accounts' Temporary Internet Files being scanned, it takes a long, long time, like 45-55 minutes. I am sure that my guests or user accounts individuals have never deleted temporary internet files on their own. If I just delete my own administrator accounts' temporary internet files, how can I delete them on my guest/user accounts?
Go to Start--My computer--Local drive C:\ and double click on it. Look for and open "Documents and settings"
(make sure you have it set to show hidden files by going to tools==Folder options==View(tab).
In the list, check "show hidden files and folders"
Now, under each account, look for "Local Settings" and open the folder
Locate a folder called "Temporary Internet files"
Open folder, delete all files and folders (except index.dat, you cannot delete that)
Open Windows Explorer and go to Documents and Settings\
Account name\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5 in each account. You can delete the files in the subfolders of Content.IE5 (don't delete Desktop.ini or Thumbs.db--you will be asked to confirm that you mean to delete them). Local Settings is a hidden folder, so make sure you have Explorer set to disply hidden files and folders.
Alternatively, open each account and in Internet Explorer go to Tools|Internet Options|Advanced tab. Under "Security" check "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed."
