Dell Backup and Recovery Software issue

Hi,

I recently (last week) got Inspiron 15 3521 with Windows 8 SL. Now, the problem is when I am creating recovery media using Backup & Recovery software, it keeps on freezing the DVD after completing burn process on 2nd DVC.

Actually what happens is,

1) 1st DVD completes OK

2) 2nd DVD also completes OK and ejects the DVD.

3) A message appears asking me to insert the media just burned in the DVD.

I have tried inserting each DVD but a error "Error occurred" pops up and freezes the DVD. Now, to unfreeze the DVD I have to reboot the laptop.

I have wasted so many DVDs but not able to create Recovery media.

Can someone from Dell support help on this?

Please help on this issue.

Thanks.

Hi kumar.vijay06,

Refer the following link which has step by step instructions:

Windows 8: http://dell.to/14l15Ui

Use the DVD and when the Backup process asks you to choose the drive, select the drive appropriately.

Also, refer the Video below which has steps to back up recovery partition on to a USB drive:

If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the application from below the link:

**Note: Use Branded +R DVDs. Memorex DVDs are not supported by Dell PCs.

Awaiting your response!

Hi kumar.vijay06,

This can create a backup of Operating system and pre-installed software on the computer. If the computer crashes, we can recover it by using the same recovery disks.

Please reply if you have any further questions.

Hi Rajesh,

Thanks for your suggestion. I was able to create recovery disk. However, was not able to create system image that would be helpful in recovery of the entire system.

When I tried to do so, wizard simply says there is no enough space in the disk for creating image.

Do you know any other option which can span the image in multiple DVDs instead of one. Because, I believe, DVD +WR provided with the Inspiron does not support dual lays DVDs?

Thanks for your help.

Hi kumar.vijay06,

Glad to know that you have created Recovery disks.

Refer the following link to check if you are following the correct method to create a system image:

I recommend to use USB flash drive instead of disks.

Please let me know if you have any other queries.
