I'm sure Dell gets paid to install that software. Think of it this way: you get a cheaper computer because it is there. I know it is a pain. I just remove all of it when I get a new machine. Takes an hour or so.

I agree with peter and it is Supposed to make you feel better about your purchase. Like you are getting all this FREE stuff (that clogs your computer and nags you to register it)!

Is the best way to get rid of it all to re install windows ? This is something which I wish to do. I have windows media center and only recieved the blue piece of card which give you options to recover your pc. The only thing I can use to get my OS disc is the " Run the Dell™ OS Recovery Utility" but its missing from my PC. I have emailed tech support but have had no reply (how long does it usually take for them to get back to you ?) How else could I get the MCE os disc ?

Reinstalling Windows will certainly get rid of it all. I usually just uninstall the stuff I don't want (which is 95% of it).

I bought a machine and sent an email asking for the OS disks. I got a prompt reply indicating that they would be sent and a day or two later they showed up Fed Ex (or some other overnight delivery).

Yes...It does come with ALOT of junk software and short trials that are pretty much a waste...When you order it, if you order it on the phone try and tell the person you are talking to not to install certain program (Tell her/him the ones you don't want)
I've never tried it but it may work Lol...Or yes just uninstall them when you get your laptop.
