Dell ControlPoint problems

I have a Latitude E6400 using Dell Control Point running under Vista X64 Ultimate. I've re-installed Vista. All was working fine until I installed all the latest ControlPoint drivers and software. After installing ControlPoint System Manager version A10 the laptop won't shut down. After 10 minutes or so it blue screens with Stop 0x0000009F. After uninstalling the System Manager component it now shuts down without problems.

The controlpoint software is useful, but is unwieldy (the downloads for the components are huge) and causes problems. It looks like it's updated frequently because there are so many issues with it.

I found system manager useful because I could use it to set the battery to not charge when and it would give an icon indicating so. I wish I could do without ControlPoint altogether. Is there other software that can use the TPM chip and work with the finger print reader better?

I'm contacting Dell Support on this issue tomorrow.
