Dell D830 Warning Event Notification under Windows XP
Hey ewveryone,
I have a problem since last night. There was a Warning Event Notification at my desktop when i wake up this morning. It says:
"A temperature probe has exceeded a non-critical threshold. Contact your Help Desk or Technical support for further assistance. "
And I've got this message every 10-15 minutes. Does anybody knows what's wrong and how I can fix it?
Waiting for your solutions.
Thanks.

It's close to overheating - or at least, the sensor thinks it's close to overheating. If it gets too hot, it will shut off completely to protect itself.
Dust and dirt can do that - the fans, vents, and heatsink can get dirty and reduce the ability of the laptop to keep itself cool. Or, worst case, it might be a problem with a fan not working properly.
Dell diagnostics should tell you if the fans are working - either press F12 at the boot screen to get to the utility partition, or you can boot directly from a Dell Resource/Utilities CD to run the diagnostics.
You can also try cleaning out the vents with a can of compressed air, but you might need to take it apart to get the whole cooling assembly clean.. For better help with that, the Laptop General Hardware Forum would be a better place to post:

EDIT: Should have mentioned that if you're still under warranty, call Dell Tech Support for troubleshooting and repair. This is basically a hardware problem, not a software one.
