pacman64,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
If you have an external cd/dvd you can boot to the Windows disk. Once it boots and you agree to the License Agreement you should get an option to "Repair" windows "R" choose this option.

pacman64,
If you were using Ubuntu as your OS you could download and extract it to a usb key. In order to install or repair Windows you will need to have an external cd/dvd drive. Have you tried the Dell Factory Image Restore tool? It replaces PC Restore. Access it from the boot menu.Once on the the screen choose "Repair Your Computer"
This utility formats the operating system hard drive partition prior to restoring the factory image. This means data on that partition is deleted and cannot be recovered. If you are still within your warranty contact support in your area for local support options to help resolve the issue.

thats a laugh i spoke to a Dell techie who informs me that because i am in spain and i purcased the notebook in the uk i am not covered as i didnt take up the option of GLOBAL warantee , and heres me thinking that if i bought a netbook i could take it over the world and use it and also get support from dell under warrantee whereever i was Not the case bunch of con artists methinks
Apparently if i transfer the ownership addresses i will be covered but takes up to 10 days i could be in another country by then looks as if i am stuk with a duff pc

If XP was original preinstalled OS?
Then during boot process you press Ctrl & F11 combination keys to launch PC Restore
PC Restore Dell Support procedure, click here (read carefully)
Procedure normally defaults to Vista OS, just click on the “change OS” to see XP version
Edit: Just read the procedure myself
Quote “NOTE: Some systems like Inspiron Mini 9 (910) do not support System Restore as they do not have nor any substitute ”
Whaaattt - no CD-ROM or PC Restore activation keys :emotion-18:
Just hope your Inspiron Mini 10 does have the F11 key??
