Dell installed Software in XP
I have a quick question about Dell Installed Software in XP.
When you first get your machine (Inspiron 8600 in my case) you can right click on my computer and get the system info come up. On this system info window there is a Dell LOGO and button you can push ( I forget what it's for now). How do I get that Dell LOGO and button back? I formatted my HDD and want that back now. I don't have the Dell Partition that came with the laptop that's used to restore my laptop back to how Dell had it when I first turned on my laptop any longer, I formatted it to store my own files in it. Is there software I can get from Dell that will give me back this option?
I was also wondering if there is away for me to get back the Dell inistalled partition? Is there an FTP where Dell might keep it that I might get access to? I realize I goofed when I got rid of it and want it back now to.
Thx all
I hope a Mod reads this :)

The partition contains the Dell Diagnostics. You can download a version that runs from floppy disk from the Dell downloads.
You can also get the Dell overlay to Windows Help and Support from the Baywolf link if you want it. (He calls it Dell PCHealth program, I think because it loads the files into C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr (which is the Help and support).
In any case you can get detailed system information from the help and support (on start menu), or using msinfo32,exe (you may have a shortcut to it labelled system information in the system tools folder; not sure as I customized that folder and can't remember what was in it originally); if not find msinfo32.exe in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSInfo\MSINFO32.EXE" and make a shortcut to it anywhere that suits you.

To bad Dell dosent offer the contents of the partition installed on their machines as a download on FTP. This would be usefull for guys like my self who would grab a copy and burn it to DVD for future rescue use :)
