Dell recovery partition
Dell dimension 3100. Before I delete it can someone please confirm that the 4.64gb FAT32 partitiion on my drive (after C ) is the recovery (back to factory settings) partition. System recovery does not work and I would like to free up some space. I have Acronis so if I have a problem I think that is a better option than system recovery, even if it worked. Please also advise if this partition has anything to do with system restore. I certainly want to keep that.
Many thanks

The terms are confusing. System Recovery can be return to factory settings, while System Restore just goes back in time--such as last week. System restore is not on a separate partition like the system image file is. I seriously doubt your system image would work after all this time and you would not want to return to factory settings on an older computer anyway. There is also a small partition with the diagnostic tools on it. That is usually in mb's not gb's .Look closely at the size to make sure that's not the one you are looking at since that is always FAT32. You are not going to gain much by repartitioning. Think about buying a larger hard drive if you need more space.Or get an external drive you can store files on and use when the old 3100 needs replacing.

Thanks Mary, Yes I have seen the small partition at the start, it is just 39mb and I will not touch that. I have a 14.44 gb unallocated sector that I want to use and wish to join it to C. However I am being careful as I am not too familiar doing this and do not want to lose everything. I will probably buy a larger drive and clone it then experiment.
Thanks
John
