BillyHotchkiss,

This is one discount source for a replacement operating system CD. Dell's offerings are here.

I certainly hope that their customer service is better than their punctuation, or someone could be in for a big disappointment.  That's a darn pitiful excuse for a professional web site.  I don't think I'd order a paperweight from anyone with that little pride in their place of business.  Those prices are also dangerously close to the "If it looks too good to be true, it probably is" range.

"Q.  Where does this software comes from ?
A.  The software is shipped from Eastern Europe."

No thanks.  :-P

Curios.?
I checked site using iSpell & it checks OK also used HTML Editor to Select All , Paste to OE "New Message" & used its Spell Checker & checked OK.
So what " punctuation " do you refer to that you don't understand. ?
It says Microsoft so who cares where it comes from & ;

"OEM means “Original Equipment Manufacturer.” OEM software is a full version of a program used by system builders and computer manufacturers. It is identical to the Retail Box version, but does not include a manual, a box, or installation support from the manufacturer."

The site is replete with bad punctuation, grammar, you name it.  If you're curious about discovering it, you might want to look into getting a new spell checker, although many of them aren't very good at checking punctuation.

There's an abundance of pirated software available that says "Microsoft" on it, but that doesn't necessarily make it authentic MS software from legitimate sources.  If you're curious about my source for this information, try here:  http://global.bsa.org/usa/press/multimedia/

I only checked Spelling but visually checked site for punctuation errors & can't see any with my limited education.
So if you can't give example I assume there aren't any.
I doubt if OEM's would be using pirated Microsoft  XP Software.

-The very first page, uppermost banner - there shouldn't be an apostrophe in "Its" or in "Extras."

-The red "Why so cheap?" banner on the right - there shouldn't be an apostrophe in (Frequently Asked) "Questions."

http://www.softforyou.biz/foryou/faq.html

-Frequently Asked Questions - 4. "What OEM stands for?" I think that's supposed to be "What does OEM stand for?" - either that, or they need to lose the question mark.  9. "Where does this software comes from?" I think that's supposed to be "Where does this software come from?"  I could go on and on, but...

Once again, the fact that an Eastern European firm (read: "Hard to catch and prosecute" firm) is claiming that a product is OEM doesn't necessarily make it so.  The site itself has no posted privacy policy, nor is a physical address posted anywhere that I could see.  Their third party online payment agent has a privacy policy, but "CDCheap" seems to have forgotten to include theirs anywhere.  Two more red flags.  The fact that some of the posted prices are less than half of the suggested retail makes it more than a little suspicious (as any Better Business Bureau or software piracy investigator will tell you, should you care to ask) - another red flag, and in my opinion, not worth the risk.  If you're inclined toward "deals" like that yourself, be my guest, but I wouldn't touch that junk with a fork lift.
