i had and still have a similar problem with my 9150 system, after being infected by my son copying a DVD with extra adware my trial copy of mcafee decided to hang up every time i tried to remove the adware (enbrowser) eventually the the system would blue screen with an irql error.

after the seventh atempt to remove the affending adware my system fell overagain only this time my xp home os tried to run a hard disk check which promply hung up at 83% and stayed there. in desperation i called in my brother in law how is a microsoft accredited engineer who managed to get the system up and running by installing xp pro from his disk set.

the problem is that now i can no longer use the F11 restore system route as this will no longer work i have tried to meny time to mention to restore the pc to its as shipped condition via this route without luck, the original disk image is still on the hard disk and has not being touched by the xp pro install so this should work, but still no joy.

in the end i contacted dell who to there credit sent out a rescure pack of drivers utilities and preinstalled software including a copy of xp home by 24 hour delivery at no cost to me. however this still falls short of a lot of the factory installed extras?

just one thought, have you tried the system restore routen with no usb devices pluged in this courses the command to fail as im told?

Yes, I tried this as well. I'm sure the partition where it is stored is still there I just don't know how to access it and activate it. I also recieved the same software as you but I would like to do an exact image if possible. Thanks for the reply.
