Dell Support Alerts: Update all these?

Hi, sorry for the dupe in the First Time Users Forum:

------------------------------

So after having my 4600 for about a week or so, I'm finally able to get into the nitty gritty after all the exploration.

I signed up for the Dell Support Alerts, which looks like an awesome service.

Of course, I selected the 'notify me of any and prompt me to install' check box.

Today, I got an alert and it had about 30 updates, including 'critikal updates' and 'security updates'.

Do I need to download all of these updates???  It'll take about 9 days, IMO.

Respond here or email me direct at bogus301@yahoo.com.  I won't place you on any mailing lists, I promise.

Well, to follow up on this issue, I bit the bullet and managed to convince myself that if I needed to trust anyone, it'll have to be Microsoft.  (yeah yeah, save it).

So I Start/Windows Update/Scan

And download and installed all 30 or so odd updates, patches, and security packets.  Instead of doing it all at once, I broke it down by logic, downloaded, installed, and restarted probably about 4 or 5 times.  Hoping the cold restarts would assist in installing these more 'fully'.

Any you know what?  No errors.  No lags.  No stoppage.  Everything went perfect.

I plan to update this thread if any errors or conflicts occur.
