Dell Support Center returns a Windows Installer dialogue error

When prompted to update Dell Support Center, the install errors with a Windows Installer message:

"Error opening installation log file. Verify that the specified log file location exists and is writeable."

Can someone tell me what the "SPECIFIED" (not!) log file location is for Dell Support Center? More later but Thanks!!

Jim,

Some people have problems with the Dell Support Center installing and that was the fix to remove it, then reinstall it.

I should have read the thread a little closer.

What make and model of computer and operating system? 32-bit or 64-bit?

And you need to fix Windows Installer.

It's a Dell E1705 / 9400 - 32 bit Vista SP2

I have successfully installed several programs (Malwarebytes' Anti-spyware, for instance) without any problem!

Is there a script or bat file to remove completely Security Center? Then re-install it?

Thanks

Jim

Jim,

Windows Installer may be corrupt or has malfunctioned. Have seen this before. Try reading...

Just by some dumb chance, try running the full diagnostics on your computer and report back any error codes.
