Denny - Help re Multiple User Accounts

Hi Denny,
I read a post where you gave a link to an MS article on how to share/unshare programs in Win XP.

I don't have a "security" tab in any program properties and I tried to follow these instructions to create one in the article:

To display the Security tab

Open Folder Options in Control Panel. (Click Start, click Control Panel, click Appearance and Themes, and then click Folder Options.)

On the View tab, under Advanced settings, clear Use simple file sharing [Recommended].
~~~~~~~~~~
I have Windows XP Home sp2 and I don't have "use simple file sharing" listed under Advanced in Folder Options>View. I do have "Display simple folder view in Explorer's Folder list". Would unchecking that give me a security tab that I can configure? Or how do I get "use simple file sharing" to show up there?
~~~~~~~~~~
A while back, I went into safe mode and found the "security" tab and that listed "everybody" had permission for the printer - but they don't. The windows were too confusing for me to attempt to configure them.

The programs I am having a problem with are the Dell 920 all-in-one printer and EZTrust Antivirus. Both of these programs are in the All Users Program Files. I can only update the EZAv from the admin account manually. I had configured it to auto-update automatically, but I think because the limited user (which is always running) doesn't have "write" ability, it doesn't update at all or run a scan. :(

In order to use copy and scan in a limited user account I have to change it to an admin, use the scanner once and change the account back to limited. Once the account logs off, the ability to scan is gone. (I removed and reinstalled this printer 10-15 times hoping to correct this).

I could really use your help with this and am hoping that article will help me if I can get the Security tab to show.

Thank you.

Sincerely, Libra

Libra1,

"Use simple file sharing" is not available in XP Home.

For your AV program, when you take a look at the properties of the scheduled task in Control Panel is "Run only if logged on" checked? That may be why the scheduled task is not being completed when the Limited user is logged on.

Hi Denny,
It seems I should have ordered XP Pro.
I had configured EZTrust Antivirus from the AV itself, not Scheduled Tasks in Windows. I just put it into Scheduled Tasks. I noticed an Autodownload version 1.6.0.0 and EZTrust Autodownload version 1.6.0.0 so I chose the EZAv download. I set it to download every day at 8 AM. I tried to set it to repeat every four hours, but that said it would repeat every 4 hours for a duration of 250 minutes, so I canceled that part. I then configured EZAv to autodownload too (every 4 hours). I checked and it doesn't say I have to be logged on.
I hope this works. Thank you.
Sincerely, Libra
