Desktop Icon Program Titles shaded Blue

I added an icon to my desktop (that I have since deleted). Whatever I did caused all of the titles of programs beneath the icons to be shaded blue. This is annoying me to no end.

I know I can go to properties and change the color of the shading but I do not know how to make there be now shading so you can see the underlying desktop picture beneath the letters.

What do I do?

SANCLEMENTE,

Go to Start|Control Panel|System|Advanced tab. Click the "Settings" button under Performance and on the Visual Effects tab scroll down and check "Use drop shadows for icon labels on desktop." Apply and OK out.

Here's a little program that will let you do about anything to an icon:

Thanks for the tip!  I actually fixed it another way by going to Display Properties and under the Desktop Tab going to the Web Tab and unselecting a web page that was linked to the desktop.

Great feature that you showed me though and THANKS. It took me a few minutes to see under XP that the path is Start/Control Panel/Performance and Maintenance/ and then the rest of your path.

THANKS AGAIN!!
