desktop icons keep shrinking

Hi, I have an ispiron 530s using Vista. Can some one tell me why the icons on desktop keep shrinking in size.

I set them to classic icons but every time I restart the computer they shrink in size, even though when I check (right click on desktop) it says they are classic but they are a lot smaller.

Thanks a New user

Classic is the smallest setting. Try Medium and see if that's better for you. Is your screen resolution changing at boot? You might want to adjust the Display properties--now called Personalize in Vista. Right click on Desktop, select personalize, Windows color & Appearance--then click on "Open Classic properties for more color....." Then select Advanced. It actually has lots more settings than just color. Icon size is there, too. But before you make any changes there-- Look up Icon Size in Help for more info like this:

You can also use the scroll wheel on your mouse to resize desktop icons. On the desktop, press and hold CTRL while you scroll the wheel to make icons larger or smaller.

Hi Mary G

I tried what you suggested but icons still shrink automatically every now and then.

For instance I just updated my antivirus on completion desktop icons shrunk.

In my Vista system, I traced the shrinking desktop icon problem to my browser at the time, Google Chrome.  I replaced that browser with Mozilla Firefox yesterday and haven't had any more icon size problems.
