dialogue box upon opening computer

When I first open my computer a Dialogue box appears that says:  either thers is no default mail client or the curent mail cannot fulfill the messaging request.  Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client.  I click OK or X it out and then another dialogue box appears stating the same thing.  When I click OK or X this one out I can then open my computer.

I use Outlook Express as my mail client and do not want to open just Outlook which I have on my computer.  My question is:  how do I get rid of these two dialogue boxes?  I hope that I do not have to open Outlook!

Howdy doody.

Hi,

Try setting Outlook Express as the default

Internet Explorer/Tools/Internet Options/Programs
Set "E-mail" to Outlook Express

See if that works.

I currently receive my e-mail with no problems on Outlook Express.  Someone sent me two messages that needed opening on Outlook to open them.  I deleted the messages soon as I noticed the requirement to open Outlook as my mail client is Outlook Express and has been for several years.  I will try as you suggested but do not think it will remove the dialogue boxes.

Howdy doody.

That`s a strange thing you wrote that "Someone sent you emails that needed to be opened with Outlook". That should never be the case as you can use your normal Account to open any email message.

You must have started Outlook up in order for it to be running now.  It is a bit suspicious if you never used it at all.

If you have used Outlook before, open it up and see if you still get the messages and cancel them there. If it changes the default you can change it back to OE again

My email is set to Outlook Express.  Do I have to open just Outlook in order to get rid of these dialogue boxes?

If I open Outlook will it change my mail client from Outlook Express to Outlook?  If so can I then change it back and have the boxes stopped?

Thanks

What actually happened was this, I opened an e-mail that had an attachment, when I tried to open the attachment is when Outlook started to open.  I then cancelled Outlook from opening, this happened twice more of which I cancelled.  I am sorry that I did that now as I now have three dialogue boxes that appear before I can opoen my computer of which I have to click ok to get rid of them.  Now here is the hooker, I now CANNOT open Outlook on my computer at all and I still get the dialogue boxes.  This is getting to be a pain in the you know where.

I have sent error messages to when Outlook will not open and they tell me to update Outlook of which I have done with all available downloads and still cannot open Outlook to stop the dialogue boxes.

Any sound help would be deeply appreciated.
