Dimension 4300 & ME re-install
HI everyone, I have a problem re-installing ME as my PC only carries out a dirty re-install which is no good as my PC still crashes after a few minutes when im on the net.
I have tried booting from the "a" drive but the PC says its an invalid disk so next i tried reading it from MS DOS which it did. Once I selected the partition to be deleted which was run from the FDISK on the A:\ prompti got an error message stating: Could not change partitions because the disk could not be locked.
My next step was to try "lock c" but I still got an error message stating: Locking operation failed.
A regular forum adviser advised me on all

Your emergency boot floppy diskette may be corrupted. Make a new one from within Control Panel|Add\Remove Programs or download one from here.
You will not be able to FDISK or FORMAT from MS-DOS as you are in Windows so C:\ cannot be locked. You must be at a true DOS prompt which in ME can be achieved only through the use of a boot floppy.

Cheers for that, finally ive managed to reboot my PC!!
