From the Dxdiag report, it looks like your computer is having problems with Direct X. Here's a line from the report.
DxDiag Previously: Crashed in DirectShow (stage 1)
Reinstall DirectX 9.0C and also install the new Nvidia drivers to see if it helps clear up the issues you are having.
This is the report from dxdiag--- (had to shorten for this post) when Ii run the direct x diagnostic tool there is a problem with direct show and windows data executiion prevention closes the tool------

Farmer70acre,

Whew, that's a lot of data to digest. First, with what capture device (make and model) are you having a problem? Have you reinstalled DirectX 9.0C as recommended? Did you manually run Windows Update, and see if any updated Nvidia drivers are available or recommended by Microsoft?

Do the recommended actions first. Retry your application. If errors occur, disconnect from Internet. Press CTRL-ALT-DEL. Click on Processes tab. End all antivirus and antispyware programs. Retry the application. Let us know if your problem is still present.

I tried downloading and installing directx 9 end user runtime at microsoft and it only downloads 384 KB, I can't get the full download?? or am I not accessing the correct file to download??

directx diagnostic tool has a problem with direct show and windows closes the program every time if I allow it to access direct show???

the device is-- AVerMedia DVD EZMaker USB2.0 that I can't get the video part to come through, I only get sound. It had worked before and I didn't have to disable my antivirus.

I ran win update and there was nothing about directx or drivers...

The full directx download is 165 Mb. If you want it...

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=0A9B6820-BFBB-4799-9908-D418CDEAC197&displaylang=en

This is the latest driver for your card; might be good idea, as already suggested, to uninstall current from Device Manager and Add|Remove (if there) and rebooting before installing this driver.

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&releaseid=R91822&SystemID=DIM_PNT_P4_8400&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=8150&devlib=0&typecnt=1&vercnt=2&formatcnt=1&fileid=119645

Reading this link suggests updating the driver for the capture card as well.

http://66.102.7.104/search?q=cache:ZtUdR-9IWeAJ:www.aver.com/support/Revision%2520History/M150v1.0.6.12_revHistory.pdf+%22directshow%22+site:aver.com&hl=en

Driver for card: http://www.aver.com/support/faq_ezmaker_usb_2.shtml

Relevant ? http://www.mediostream.com/support/qa2_neodvd.html#8

Wouldn't hurt to run this command (re directshow driver): sfc /scannow (note space) possibly after uninstalling the recent critical update 904706; when sfc is finished disable AV and go to Windows Update site to reinstall it (904706)

You make mention of DEP closing a tool; are you referring to directshow ? If show you may want to prevent DEP from interfering with the program that's using it, ie your capture card software. Here's how.

OK this is what I did... I uninstalled and then reinstalled the driver for the avermedia-- no change, still no video.. but I do have the sound coming through.. the properties show that the device is working properly?

I also uninstalled and reinstalled the Nvidia driver and all I got from that for the video was green lines and it messed up my fonts and icons (I couldn't get them normal size even by changing settings) plus windows said something about that this version is not windows supported or something?? so I reverted back to my original driver since it didn't help..

I don't know if I want to try reinstalling the directx- everything else works, nothing crashes when playing video games or movies on my dvd drive. I am having no other problems with any other video component on my system and all of the directx, USB, etc show that they are working properly.. I did the troubleshoot for the video capture and nothing there helped. So my thinking is that the unit is defective.. Do you have any thoughts on this??

I disabled the DEP for directx and mediastream dvd tasks (not sure if this is the one though?)-- Direct x shows no errors-- I don't understand why DEP was closing the direct show?? but that is the only place I have seen that it closes it..

Farmer70acre,

Ok. The problem is with Avermedia. Let me do some checking.

I'm back. Suggest you go to this link for latest driver. I'm 99.9% sure its the same as earlier post.
Won't hurt to see if it makes a difference.

Download latest USB driver for DVD EZMAKER USB 2.0.

Also, if you are using Ulead DVD Movie Factory or Ulead VideoStudio, you should download the appropriate patch on the same link. These updates fix an NTSC/PAL default setting. May have been cause of your original problem.
