Directories do not refresh

I have kind of an unusual problem with my new XPS running XP MCE. When I open a directory and create, delete or rename a file the directory does not automatically refresh. I have to manually refresh to see any changes. I have never seen this type of problem in all the Windows versions I am familiar with. My XPS has a RAID 0 configuration, could be its an artifact of that. Can anybody point me in the right direction??
