DirecTv set-top programming issues

Question

I recently purchased an 8400 with MCE 2005.  It has dual tuners, but I am currently only using one.  I am having trouble programming the MCE remote to operate the set-top box.  I have gone through the steps of programming the remote, but everytime it asks to 'test' the remote, it does not work.  The remote will not change channels or control the set-top box at all.  I have looked all over the web for a fix to this problem with no success.  There are many people out there that have experienced the same problem as me, but I have yet to find a solution. If anyone knows how to resolve this issue, please reply to this post.   Thank you.     Jkuhnle

I just got my new computer YESTERDAY and I'm having the exact same problem. I have a regular DirecTV SetTop Box that is about a year old, and a remote for it. I go through the steps to set it up on my computer, and the satellite and remote work fine, but when I get to the point where I have to install the DirecTV remote or the Media Center remote, neither will work... The DirecTV remote signal is nonexistant, and the Media Center remote cannot sync up with the DirecTV box... Otherwise all is fine!

Unplug the remote sensor from the back of the computer for about 5 minutes and try it again.  It worked for me, and everything is working great.
