Disk check on every startup
Inspiron 5100 XP SP3
The disk check runs on every startup. I found Chkdsk but all info is how to run. I need to remove from startup sequence. Seems msconfig/startup checkoffs would do it, but which startup item would I uncheck? Any other ideas?

Try this:
1. click on your start menu and open the run dialog.
2. type "cmd" and return (note: dont enter quotes)
3. Next type "fsutil dirty query c:"
4. If the return message indicates that the volume is dirty go to step 5
5. Next type "chkdsk c: /f /x"
6. After that finshes repeat step 3.
7. If it is no longer dirty then reboot and you should notice no more ckdisk.
Edit: Highlight note
Note: In step 3, replace c: with the drive letter that is giving you the trouble.
In step 5, replace c: with the drive letter that is giving you the trouble.

As I mentioned in the post above, substitue the drive letter that IS giving you the check disk problem.
I also forgot to mention, substitute the drive letter that is giving you the error in step five also.
5. Next type "chkdsk c: /f /x"

Step 3 Volume - c: is NOT Dirty
Rebooted and chkdsk tried to run. Stopped with Esc and reboot continued.
