Yes, I absolutely recommend you do this. The program I use is Norton Ghost. You can purchase as part of Norton Systemworks Pro or as a stand-alone program. You can do drive images onto CD-RW, DVD-RW or another drive or partition. Please note that I do not recommend Norton Systemworks Pro, but it's the cheapest way to buy Ghost. Apart from Ghost, the rest of the programs are junk.

There are other programs as well, such as Casper XP. Do a search for drive backup or disk imaging programs.

Ghost 9.0 runs out of Windows.   You can easily use the 2003 version.

You can go to www.symantec.com and read about Norton Ghost.  It gives you all the capabilties you require.

Refer to the Ghost 2003 User's Guide. A copy should be included with the retail CD, but is also available from the Symantec site linked below.

Section 2 of the User's Guide discusses file systems supported, including NTFS. It's also mentioned in the introduction as a new feature for Ghost 2003.
