The correct location for Windows XP wallpaper is C
:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\. You can simply open Explorer, navigate to the
C:\Windows\Web\ folder, create a new folder titled
Wallpaper, and copy all your wallpaper files into that folder. I've added wallpaper from Windows Me, Windows 2000, and Windows XP Plus in mine.
Thanks. That worked great. Now I have another problem. I tried using themes then had a difficult time trying to get my wallpaper settings back to the way they were. In the past say I selected the green for the background color and selected a wallpaper. The wallpaper showed up and the print under the desktop icons showed up. Now the background color (green) shows up behind all the text under each desktop icon. The icons also seem to have shadows. I can't seem to get rid of either of these problems. Any suggestions. Under appearances - Windows and buttons, I have selected Windows Classic Style. Under color schemes I have selected Windows Classic. Under font size I selected large. Under Effects I have selected Fade effect where it says Use the following transition effect for menus and tooltips (althought I do not know what this means) Where it says Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts I have checked Standard (I do not know what this means either.) I have tried the other options for both items but did not help my problem. Use large icons is unchecked. Show shadows under menus is unchecked (I tried checking it but desktop icons seemed to have shadows either way. Show window contents while dragging is unchecked. Hide underlines letters for keyboard navigation until I press the Alt key is checked. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
Leave it to Microsoft to hide this little trick to make Icon Labels transparent.
Click Start/Control Panel / System / Advanced / Performance Tab / Settings Button and put a checkmark in: Use Drop Shadows for Icon Labels on the Desktop .
Alternatively, you can right click on My Computer, left click on Properities to get to System Properties.

RE Display Properties. All of the sudden on the desktop tab in addition to the list of items from the C:/WINDOWS/Web/Wallpaper folder all my pictures are included in the Display Properties - Desktop list. This happened once before and I believe it later disappeared by itself. I do not know how to get rid of these additional items. I tried restarting the computer and I tried disk cleanup to no avail. Any suggestions? I was told via a post from another forum to move My Pictures to another folder and that worked; however I had to put them back in order to open pictures in MS Digital Image. When I moved My Pictures to another folder, they did disappear from the list in the display properties - tesktop tab but when I put them back they reappeared. Someone at another forum said they get there by default however, I do not believe this to be the case since they were not there for years. Any suggestions? Thanks.
