Update

I discovered my problem has nothing to do with Norton Antivirus.

If I turn monitor off and then back on after drive image reboots to make the image, everything is fine. 

I am thinking now that it may be a monitor problem.  I am  also having trouble getting into the setup because the Dell logo never appears.

I tried an old spare monitor that I have sitting around here and it seems all right with it.
